Burglars targeted expensive mountain bikes in two burglaries at Mt Maunganui during the weekend.
Detective Sergeant Eddie Lyttle said two separate bike stores were hit.
About 6.30am on Saturday burglers broke into Avanti Plus Cycles on Owens Place and took two specialised mountain bikes and a specialised BMX bike from the display stand.
A witness had reported seeing a white utility vehicle near the premises at the time of the break in, Mr Lyttle said.
About 3.40am on Monday thieves struck at Mount Bikes in Central Parade.
Again expensive mountain bikes were targeted with four GT mountain bikes and accessories taken.
Mr Lyttle said police wanted anyone who may have been in either area around the time of the breaks to contact them.
"Police would also like to hear from any persons who have seen any new bikes in suspicious circumstances or have been offered expensive bikes at bargain prices," he said.
