KEY POINTS:
A victim of a burglar is angry about the offender's demands for $20,000 of cosmetic surgery and wants the government to step in.
Casey Voges wants the Accident Compensation Corporation to replace the part of his ear that was bitten off by a police dog while he was fleeing a crime scene.
The 29 year-old is currently serving a prison sentence in Auckland.
Real Estate agent Ian Dodds says Voges broke into his home in 2005 and took jewellery and other valuables and his demands are shocking.
Mr Dodds believes ACC should pay the bill if Vogues was sick, but not to enhance his appearance. He wants the government to stop ACC paying for the surgery, claiming government supports criminals too much while hardworking taxpayers suffer. He says ACC should only fund people with genuine health problems.
