An adventure firm is negotiating with a Sydney woman over compensation after the woman fell from her bungy cord last week.
Kirsty Moulder, 39, is in a stable condition in Christchurch Hospital after her ill-fated bungy jump at Hanmer Springs in North Canterbury last Friday. She was flown to hospital with serious injuries after she became detached from the cord and fell head first into the Waiau River.
Thrillseekers Adventures has closed its bungy operation while the Department of Labour investigates.
"We are still mystified by the whole thing to be honest," said Thrillseekers Adventures spokesman Blair Hartland.
Mr Hartland said the firm had been in contact with Ms Moulder's partner to discuss a "support and compensation package". Progress was being made on this, but Mr Hartland said he could not disclose any details.
Ms Moulder is also eligible for ACC to cover the cost of her treatment.
Yesterday Rodney Moulder thanked the rescuers who saved his wife.
"Everyone has been so helpful, supportive and professional," he said.
"The people from Thrillseekers Adventures, the Westpac rescue crew and the staff at the hospital have gone out of the way to care for Kirsty, and I would like to thank them all."
