A 33-year-old northern Buller woman is in custody after a suspicious fire burned a bach to the ground at the Mokihinui River mouth yesterday afternoon.
The unoccupied bach was reported to be on fire about 12.50pm and by the time firefighters arrived it was engulfed by flames.
Westport police arrested the suspected arsonist last night.
She appeared in Greymouth District Court this morning and was remanded to reappear in Christchurch District Court on December 30.
