Mountain Buggy New Zealand is recalling about 500 three-wheel strollers sold over the past six months because of a safety concern.
The company had received reports of a weakness in the adjustment mechanism of the extendable handle, director Charlie Fairbrother said yesterday. This could result in the handle breaking under heavy loads during actions such as pulling the buggy backwards up stairs.
"We have investigated these reports and we have decided to initiate a voluntary recall of the buggies to replace the adjustment mechanism as a precautionary measure," Mr Fairbrother said.
The recall applied to the 2005 Urban model (1204-002) single, serial numbers 000000-003342, and 2005 Urban model (2204-002) double, serial numbers 000000-006957.
