The end of day light saving seems to have brought on some long awaited rain, and the course is relishing in the extra moisture being provided. So long worm burners and ground grubbers, its time to settle down to some fine golf over the next few months.
Thursday Club
On Thursday Meg the Caterer, and George the Instigator (and reporter) arrived to share a cup of tea with Sue the Manager, and then intended to go home. But they didn't take into account the intrepid nature of Martinborough Golfers. As it turned out nearly thirty players took part, and as rightly predicted by the players the weather wasn't all that bad.
There were few surprises this week among the prize winners, the ever consistent Ray Lind getting Nearest the Pin and, of course a two. He was joined by only one other player- Derek Stephens.
The competition, though did throw up one very pleasant surprise with Bruce Sullivan coming in with 47 Stableford points.
All that practice, and shirking responsibilities at home reaping the rewards with your BP of 78, what's more, his co players said his game, "From beginning to end, was a pleasure to watch." So too, will his dropping handicap, some will say.
Derek Stephens, not content with a two, and back to his good form, raised an impressive 42 points. On 40 points we had three players, Ivan Taplin, Peter Smith and Graham Jacobson (good to have you neglecting your work and back with us!).
