Brothers rescued after crash

Two brothers were rescued from down a bank after a motorcycle accident in the Hutt Valley last night.

The accident happened on Coast Road in Wainuiomata when the motorcycle the pair were riding went off the road and down a bank.

Both received serious leg injuries and were trapped at the bottom of the bank for more than three hours before a local farmer and his daughter heard them calling out.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to the scene at 10.45pm and flew the 22-year-old driver to Wellington Hospital for treatment.

The second brother was being treated at the scene.
