A man accused of the kidnapping and violent assault of a woman appeared in Hastings District Court yesterday.
Police said the woman suffered serious facial injuries in the attack.
Sio Muliipu, 23, was charged with kidnapping and burglary after Monday's incident, where the woman, believed to be known to Muliipu, was allegedly abducted by Muliipu and his brother.
He entered no plea to all charges, including further unrelated violence charges.
His brother, Time Finai Muliipu, 25, also appeared in court and entered no plea to charges of kidnapping and burglary.
