Brothel owners Chow Group have paid $248,000 sought by Auckland Council for the cost of demolishing the an inner-city heritage building.
The 124-year-old Palace Hotel in Victoria St collapsed during construction work in November and the council ordered and paid for its demolition.
An inquiry found it had been severely damaged by the owners' renovations.
In a report to the council yesterday, general counsel Wendy Brandon said Chow Group had paid $239,626 for demolition work.
The Wellington-based developers also paid $8693 of the council's legal costs in getting a search warrant for the inquiry.
