KEY POINTS:
Kiwi singer Brooke Fraser is back in Auckland, ready to send a message while singing for the children.
The 25-year-old, who has been based in Sydney for the past five years, will sing at the SkyCity Starlight Symphony concert tomorrow night.
Fraser says being a part of the concert - where all proceeds will go to the Make-A-Wish charity that grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses - is a privilege.
"I reckon we can all do our little bit and certainly as a musician - as an artist - if I can use what I do to make a difference, then that's the best music," she says.
"There's music that's out there that's purely for entertainment - I definitely believe that that has its place - but for me, I want to use music to communicate a message as well and to use, to make a change in people's lives."
Fraser, whose first two albums What To Do With Daylight and Albertine were hits - with her first album debuting at No 1 on the charts in 2003, says moving across the Ditch brought many benefits. "I love it. I think it depends why you went over - what you want out of it. It's great for me - [I] found a husband."
Having been married for almost a year to Australian Scott Ligertwood, she says she is enjoying married life but will not be expecting a baby any time soon.
"I've only been married for 11 months so there'll be plenty of time for that. I've got the rest of my life to do that. And all my friends are having babies so I've got plenty to cuddle."
Asked if she would ever support the Wallabies, she said: "No, no. That will never happen.
"It's an ongoing debate as to what our children will support."
The singer's third album is next on her to-do list, although a release date is yet to be finalised.
The SkyCity Starlight Symphony starts tomorrow at 7.30pm at the Auckland Domain.
