A 26-year-old Briton who made New Zealand his home after the Rugby World Cup has collapsed and died during a downhill biking trip in the Cardrona Valley.
The Dunedin resident and his flatmate, who also travelled to New Zealand for the tournament last year, were part of a group of 10 on a biking trip from Snow Park, between Wanaka and Queenstown, yesterday.
Wanaka police said the group rode downhill for two minutes before stopping at an area known as Rock Drop.
The group walked a short distance when the man collapsed.
Riders and staff from trip organisers Queenstown Bike Taxis, who were trained in First Aid, were unable to resuscitate him.
