KEY POINTS:
An eight-car pile-up during rush-hour traffic caused delays for commuters on the Auckland Harbour Bridge yesterday.
The nose-to-tail crash occurred northbound on lane one of the bridge about 4.50pm. Alan Griffith was driving home to Northcote from his job in the city.
"I was behind it all, I changed lanes and got the hell out of there. The wreckage was all over the road, the fronts and backs of the cars were all bashed in."
Sergeant David Robertson of the police northern communications centre said no one was injured in the crash, but the lane had to be closed for about an hour while the area was cleared.
