Breastfeeding record set

WELLINGTON - Nearly 1300 mums and bubs nationwide helped set a breastfeeding record today.

Big Latch On spokeswoman Jo Fitzpatrick said 1299 mums took part, with the 178 who gathered at Sylvia Park in Auckland also setting a national record.

"This is the biggest number of women who have ever got together in one place to breastfeed in New Zealand," Ms Fitzpatrick said.

Last year 1122 mothers participated.
