Breakdown in Waterview tunnel cleared

A breakdown in the new Waterview tunnel which caused major delays has now been cleared.

The New Zealand Transport Agency warned drivers to expect delays through the tunnel on the North-Western motorway heading south because of a breakdown earlier today.

Video showed traffic crawling through one lane of the tunnel.

Drivers should allow extra time for their journey, the NZTA has said.
