Police are looking for a brazen jewellery thief who ran out of an Auckland store with a $36,000 diamond ring.
The theft happened on December 13 at a store in Elliott St in Auckland's CBD, Sergeant Janine Ieremia of the Auckland City Police said.
"At approximately 11.50am the man was looking at a selection of rings before being handed a diamond solitaire ring valued at over $36,000," Ieremia said.
"When he received the ring he ran from the store into Elliott St and turned right to run up Wellesley St."
Pictures supplied by police show the alleged thief had glasses, stubble, and black curly hair or a wig. He wore a blue or grey T-shirt, green shorts and black running shoes.
