Two men who rescued victims after separate car crashes in 2008 will be presented with bravery awards by the Governor-General tomorrow.
Allan Maxted of Amberley, in Canterbury, will be awarded a silver medal after he went to the aid of a driver whose car had struck a power pole in July 2008.
Shortly after he rescued the driver, the car became engulfed in flames.
Makey Pouwhare of Blenheim will be awarded a silver medal for rescuing three children from a crash which brought down high-voltage power lines in November 2008.Governor-General Sir Anand Satyanand would present the medals at an awards ceremony for the Royal Humane Society of New Zealand at the Canterbury Club in Christchurch.
The society has given 2038 awards for acts of bravery since its inception in 1898.
