The three boys who helped stop an attack on a young girl in Hastings have received a rare police award for their bravery.
Hastings police handed the boys a commendation from the Eastern District Commander in front of a large crowd at a special ceremony this morning.
The students saved a 12-year-old girl from two men who were trying to lure her into a park on her way to school.
One of the boys Liam Mataira said it was an honour to get an award usually only given to police staff.
