Irish singer Ronan Keating was spotted singing at the exclusive Tara Iti Golf Club last night during a private event.
Former TV personality and interior designer Sally Ridge posted a video on social media of the 47-year-old Irishman singing Killing Me Softly on a small stage under a marquee at the club.
In another Instagram story, Keating could be seen thanking a small crowd of 10-15 people after he had finished his 1999 hit When You Say Nothing at All.
A spokesperson for Tara Iti said as a private club, the event was private with no tickets or access for the public. It remains unclear what the event was for. Clips show dozens of people standing and sitting around a small, simple stage where Keating sang with three fellow musicians.
The Dublin native was a member of the Irish boyband Boyzone from 1993-2000. After the group’s break-up, Keating went on to achieve worldwide success with such songs as Life Is a Rollercoaster, The Way You Make Me Feel and Lovin’ Each Day.
Keating recently moved from London to Australia with his Australian-born wife Storm, son Cooper, 7, and daughter Coco, 4. The singer reportedly said the family would spend a few months in Australia to be near Storm’s family, then travel overseas for “a while”.
This certainly isn’t the first time Keating has come to New Zealand. The singer has performed in Aotearoa several times and in 2016 he partnered with Kiwi actor Julian Dennison to record a four-minute Kiwi Christmas carol called Summer Wonderland for Air New Zealand.
In 2013, the singer was a guest judge on New Zealand’s first season of The X Factor.
Near Mangawhai in the Auckland region, Tara Iti has been named one of the best golf courses in the world, welcoming players like Ryan Fox and Rory McIlroy to former US President Barack Obama and former NZ Prime Minister John Key.
