Two teenage boys, lost in waist- deep snow in the Ruahine ranges in the Manawatu, were rescued last night after a six-hour search.
Three search and rescue teams were sent in on foot because severe southerly winds, rain and snow prevented a helicopter getting to the 16-year-old boys.
Police said they had limited footwear and inadequate clothing, but huddled in survival blankets to await their rescuers.
