A boy suffered a nasty accident when a tree branch impaled through his face while riding on a quad bike.
The youngster, whose age is not known, was riding a small quad bike on a property in Pollok, just south of Manukau Heads, when the accident happened yesterday.
An ambulance was called out to the scene just before 5pm. Emergency services said the boy had driven through a hedge when "a branch impaled through his face.''
He was taken to Middlemore Hospital in a moderate condition.
