Two boys, aged 13 and 14, have been arrested in connection with a fire that destroyed part of the Mangere East Primary School on Monday.
Principal Anthony Noble-Campbell said the arrests meant "huge peace of mind".
The fire had wiped out seven classrooms - the whole of the junior syndicate and part of the Samoan bilingual unit.
He said it would take about two years for the block to be replaced.
