KEY POINTS:
Two teenage boys have admitted starting two fires in Turangi at the weekend, police say.
Detective Sergeant Neale Saunders said today the boys, aged 15 and 13, had confessed to breaking into a holiday house on Hinerangi St, where they lit several fires, and starting another blaze in nearby Wiremu St.
The house, which contained a number of irreplaceable personal items and collectables, was extensively damaged.
Both boys' families had been instrumental in getting them to tell police what they had done, Mr Saunders said.
The boys had been referred to youth aid.
