A two-year-old boy whose arm was amputated after being caught in a lawnmower in Wairoa on Saturday is in a stable condition.
The boy had fallen in front of a ride-on mower being driven by his mother at a private residence, a St John Ambulance spokesman said.
He was flown to Hawke's Bay Hospital in a critical condition by the Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter.
Hawke's Bay Hospital spokeswoman Anna Kirk today told NZPA the boy's condition had improved and he was "stable and comfortable" in the children's ward.
