A eight-year-old boy who was wounded in a Hawke's Bay shooting on Sunday which left his father dead has been discharged from hospital.
Father of six Layden Rameka, 32, died after being shot three times at his house in the settlement of Waikaou, 45km northwest of Napier, about 2.30pm on Sunday.
His son Zepplen-Solly Rameka was shot in the arm.
Zepplen-Solly was released from Hawke's Bay Hospital last night, Hawke's Bay District Health Board advised.
His family asked the health board to request privacy for the family.
Wilson Neil Apatu, 39, appeared in Napier District Court on Tuesday charged with Mr Rameka's murder and the attempted murder of Zepplen-Solly.
He was also charged with using a knife to rob another man of a Ford Courier utility. He entered no plea to all charges.
Judge Bridget Mackintosh remanded Apatu in custody until September 23.
