Another child in Auckland's Browns Bay area has been approached by an unknown adult this week.
The senior primary school boy was walking home from Sherwood School on Monday when he stopped by the Z Petrol station at Northcross, principal Annie Doherty said.
"He bent down to do his shoelace up and he heard a voice say: 'would you like a lift?' He didn't recognise the voice so he just stood up and ran off, so he didn't even look over his shoulder."
The school sent out an email to alert parents to the incident.
Doherty said the boy never looked to see who was speaking, so it was possible it might not have been sinister, but praised the boy for his quick action.
Police said there was no evidence of the boy being chased down the street.
That boy's mother, Sara Prendergast, posted on Facebook saying her son got a "real fright" on his way to Mairangi Bay Primary School on Monday.
The boy got off a bus and was walking down Hastings Rd when a car allegedly pulled up alongside him.
The boy told his parents the car door opened and he ran away, with a woman chasing him down the street.
Police put out a statement, saying they were called to a school in the Mairangi Bay area at 8.19am that day after a student raised concerns about a vehicle that appeared to be suspicious.
"Police officers attended immediately and spoke to the child," the statement said.
"Area inquiries were carried out, however a vehicle of that description was not located and there is no CCTV footage available to confirm the circumstances.
"However there is no evidence to suggest that the child was chased and at this time there are very limited lines of inquiry."
Police have been contacted about the other alleged incident near Sherwood School.
