An 8-year-old boy was airlifted from Hawke's Bay's Te Mata Peak after tumbling some 10m this afternoon.
Due to the inaccessible location, the Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter Service was called to help about 5pm.
Pilot Jeremy Bruce said the boy had been walking with one of his parents down a steep section of the Goat Track route when he tripped and fell about 10m.
He sustained leg and neck injuries but was not thought to have been seriously injured.
An ambulance spokeswoman described his injuries as moderate.
He was flown to Hawke's Bay Hospital.
