A 10-year-old boy remains in intensive care after being hit by a 4WD while riding a motorbike in Paeroa yesterday.
The boy was airlifted to Waikato Hospital yesterday morning after he came out of a driveway on Rotokohu Road on a small motorbike and crossed the path of a 4WD, Senior Sergeant Matt Rogers from northern police communications said.
The driver of the vehicle and passenger remained on the scene of the accident and were interviewed by police.
"My understanding is the driver did everything he could to stop and avoid the kid on the bike," Mr Rogers said.
The case was still being investigated.
Waikato Hospital spokeswoman Mary Anne Gill said the boy remained in the intensive care unit today after undergoing surgery yesterday afternoon.
