A 13-year-old boy has been taken to hospital with head injuries after being kicked in the head by a horse.
The TrustPower rescue helicopter was called this afternoon to a rural property east of Opotiki, 60km south east of Whakatane, where a boy had fallen from the back of a horse and been kicked in the head.
He was flown to Whakatane Hospital in a moderate condition with head injuries, including a large laceration, a TrustPower rescue helicopter spokesman said.
