Boy hit by hay bale, in hospital

A 15-year-old boy is being treated for a possible spinal injury after being hit by a hay bale near Rotorua this morning.

It was understood the boy and his father were feeding stock on their farm just north of Okere Falls, 21km north-east of Rotorua, when he was hit by the bale about 9am.

The Baytrust Rescue Helicopter transported the bo y to Rotorua Hospital where he was receiving treatment for a possible spinal injury.
