Boy dies after fight in Mangere park

A 16-year-old hurt during a fight in a Mangere park on Saturday night has died in hospital.

Poaru Brother Akatapuria of Otara was at David Lange Park with at least 10 associates when a fight broke out within the group, said Detective Senior Sergeant Albie Alexander.

Poaru was taken by ambulance to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition and later placed on life support. He died yesterday afternoon.

An 18-year-old charged with assaulting him will appear in court today.
