Boy attempts toy gun robbery

Wellington police are looking for a boy who attempted to rob a member of the public with a toy gun.

The boy approached a person in the suburb of Kilbirnie last Thursday between 9pm and 9.30pm with what appeared to be a toy gun, Detective Constable Trevor Collett of Wellington police said.

The victim ran away without handing over any cash, Mr Collett said.

The boy was described as being 11-14 years-old with a very dark complexion - possibly African - and wearing a black baseball cap.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the Bay Rd, Kilbirnie area and may have witnessed this incident or seen the boy with the toy gun.
