A 7-year-old boy was rescued from a hot car in Auckland yesterday.
Emergency services were called to the Tepid Baths car park on Customs St West in downtown Auckland about 4.30pm.
Fire Service spokesman Phil Grace said a crew was called to provide medical treatment and to open the car door.
As they were trying to open the door, the boy's father came and unlocked it with the keys, he said.
The child was passed to St John staff for treatment.
A police spokeswoman said officers responded to reports a 7-year-old boy had been left unattended in a car.
"A 7-year-old boy was asleep. The child's father returned to the car a short time after police arrived.
"Police had a discussion with the man about leaving children in a car.
"No further action was taken."
Auckland Westport Rescue Helicopter spokeswoman Kerrie Spicier said its rapid response vehicle was sent to the scene, but no action was required.
Tauranga City Council is investigating its sale of the precinct to a developer.
