A young boy was airlifted to hospital after falling from a jungle gym at a Waikato school yesterday.
The Auckland rescue helicopter was called out to Waerenga School in Waikato, after a 5-year-old boy fell 2.5 metres from a jungle gym, and landed on his back.
Intensive care flight paramedic Marcel Driessen said the boy had fallen off a wooden type structure in the playground, and landed on bark.
"On arrival he was in the back of the ambulance. We made sure he was stable and moved him into the back of the helicopter."
The boy was taken to Auckland's Starship Hospital in a serious condition, he said.
