Dunedin police are looking for the parents of a toddler found wandering a suburban street in the early hours of the morning in his gumboots.
Sergeant Dave Scott of the Dunedin police said the boy, thought to be three-years-old, was found by a member of the public around 4.15am walking along North Rd in North Dunedin.
Police were alerted and the boy was placed in Child, Youth and Family custody.
Mr Scott said it was "a mild winter night" in Dunedin. "But I'm guessing someone is going to get a bit of a fright this morning."
The child was wearing tracksuit pants, a jersey and gumboots when he was found.
