A 15-year-old's handed himself into police after allegedly robbing a Gisborne dairy while wielding an axe.
The teen was seen acting strangely yesterday afternoon, and police received reports a short time later about a robbery at the Gladstore dairy.
No one was hurt.
The boy left the dairy, with a member of the public following him, and he was seen throwing away the axe.
Police worked out his identity, and as a result they found a small amount of cash at a house nearby.
The 15-year-old walked into Gisborne police station last night.
He's expected to appear in court today.
