KEY POINTS:
A 15-year-old boy facing sex charges against children was remanded in social welfare custody for a depositions hearing in June when he appeared in Christchurch Youth Court today.
Police allege the boy was aged 14 when the offending occurred. The charges include an assault on a child, having unlawful sexual connection with a boy under 12, two of attempted sexual connection with a child under 12, and indecent assault on a boy under 12. Four different complainants are involved.
Defence youth advocate Liz Bulger said the complainants would not be required to give evidence at the depositions hearing.
Judge Jane McMeeken asked the boy how he was spending his days, and he told of attending school, but doing bone carving during the holidays.
He is with a "tracker" who stays with him 24 hours a day during his time on remand.
The short depositions hearing is scheduled for June 13.
