Boy, 15, charged with murder

A 15-year-old Rotorua boy has appeared in the city's youth court on a charge of murder.

Police then withdrew a holding charge of assault against the teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, the Daily Post reported.

Judge Maree Mackenzie gave permission to release only the age of the alleged offender, where the teen is from, the charge being faced and the outcome of yesterday's Youth Court appearance.

All other details were suppressed.

The teenager was remanded without plea into the custody of Child Youth and Family to reappear on September 14.
