KEY POINTS:
An 11-year-old boy was one of two youngsters arrested after a knifepoint robbery in Havelock North yesterday.
Sergeant Matt King of Hastings police said the incident happened as a man left a dairy on Te Mata Rd at about 3.45pm.
"The man was approached by a youth who produced a kitchen knife and demanded the man give him his car," he said.
"After being refused, the youth then demanded the man's cellphone, which he has taken."
Mr King said during the robbery the youth was joined by a second youth who had been inside the dairy, and the pair later disappeared into the grounds of Havelock North High School.
A police dog was called in and the pair were located and arrested.
Mr King said a 14-year-old would appear in Hastings Youth Court today to face a charge of aggravated robbery and an 11-year-old had been referred to police youth aid and is now in the care the Child Youth and Family Service.
