A boy who suffered serious injuries after falling from a horse has been flown to Tauranga Hospital.
The Tauranga based Trustpower TECT Rescue helicopter was called to the 10-year-old at 5.30pm yesterday after he had fallen from a horse at Hicks Bay.
The boy received serious upper leg fractures as a result.
St John ambulance staff attended the boy until the rescue helicopter arrived, the onboard Intensive care paramedic provided pain relief then the boy accompanied by his father was flown to hospital in a moderate condition.
The helicopter was used because of the remote location and the seriousness of the boys leg injury.
