Four boys, including one aged 10, have been caught by police after a Whangarei crime spree in which cars were broken into and a supermarket roller door damaged.
Whangarei police Sergeant Rika Wihongi said police nabbed the four, aged 10, 11 and two 13-year-olds, about 3am yesterday and discovered five cars parked near the Warehouse had had their locks forced with a screwdriver. A roller door at Countdown Supermarket on Okara Drive had also been damaged.
Mr Wihongi said police were not sure what property, if any, had been stolen from the cars but expected the car owners to be visiting police.
An alarm had been activated at Countdown and the boys found running away. They have been referred to the police Youth Aid section.
