The Retailers Association says Boxing Day sales are becoming an increasingly significant part of the retail calendar and this year look like being as popular as ever.
Spokesman John Albertson says there are always some bargains, but not necessarily much variety, as the choice can be limited to leftover stock from Christmas.
He says store owners use the sales to get stock levels back to normal after ordering big shipments for the festive season.
