Bowls champ to defend assault allegations

Bowls champion Gary Lawson is set to appear in court for a defended hearing on assault and wilful damage charges.

Lawson, a two-time world champion, was charged over an incident involving a taxi driver and his car in Wellington on November 6.

At Wellington District Court today Lawson was remanded on bail to reappear for the hearing on May 12.
