Bowlers a close second

Wairarapa finished a close second in the men's section of the quadrangular bowls tournament played in Wellington last Sunday.
They had the same number of points, 12, as winners Wellington Invitation but whereas the latter had a points differential of plus 29 Wairarapa were minus 15. Third with 8pts was Wellington City while Hutt Valley trailed the field with 4pts.
In the women's section it was Wellington City who took the honours. They finished on 12pts, ahead of Wellington City 10, Wairarapa 8 and Hutt Valley 6.
The development squad representative matches between Wellington and Wairarapa were one way traffic with Wellington winning the men's match 28-6 and the women's match 24-10.
