A young man on a night out ended up in hospital with a fractured jaw and missing teeth from a beating outside a central city night club, allegedly by the club's doormen.
Novalee Cribb said her nephew, Allen-Daniel Cribb, 20, was beaten by up to three bouncers outside the V Bar, an R & B, hip-hop venue on Albert St, at around 3am yesterday.
She said his jaw was broken on both sides, two teeth were knocked out, he was covered in blood and there were what looked like handprints on his neck. His ribs were also possibly fractured.
A friend with him at the time was "pushed around" but not beaten in the same way.
Police are investigating the attack and were talking to V Bar bouncers.
Another aunt, Adele Singh, said Mr Cribb, an apprentice builder, had a "smart mouth on him" but she was horrified to be contacted at 4am and told her nephew was in hospital.
"We were assuming maybe a black eye but he's cracked his ribs and if this was CSI you could get the fingerprints from the marks on his neck."
While full details of the incident were not available, Mrs Singh said it began when Mr Cribb asked the bouncers for a lighter and when they refused, asked if it was because he was white.
Police were unable to get a full statement from Mr Cribb yesterday as he could not talk due to his broken jaw. They had photographed his injuries.
