Police are seeking witnesses to a fatal crash in Western Bay of Plenty which claimed the life of a 17-year-old motorcyclist, while his school is again mourning the loss of a student.
It appeared the teenager had lost control of his bike and collided with an oncoming car on McLaren's Falls Road in Lower Kaimai, 18km southwest of Tauranga, shortly before 6pm yesterday, police said. The teenager died at the scene.
Police said they had spoken to several witnesses but asked for anyone else with information to come forward.
The teenager's death has left his family, friends and school community in shock, the Bay of Plenty Times reported today.
He was a student at Otumoetai College which had been plunged into mourning again just weeks after 14-year-old student Kieran Judd died after being injured in a collision in Taranaki.
