A Papamoa house has been struck by lightning, which has blown a hole through the roof.
Today's wild weather in the Bay of Plenty is set to continue this evening, as a low pressure system brings hailstorms, lightning and thunder.
Senior Station Fire Officer Terry Mills says residents saw smoke coming from the house just after lunchtime.
He says had someone been in the house at the time, they could have been electrocuted.
