Booze bans and the axing of the "feral factor" are two steps being taken by organisers to tame this year's Hokitika Wildfoods Festival.
Co-organiser Sue Hustwick said taking the "gross factor" out of the Friday night entertainment, as well as street closures, should ensure a more peaceful, less messy and safer family-oriented festival.
"We love having visitors to our Wildfoods Festival ... but it's getting too wild, even for us."
