South Auckland police have closed an Otahuhu street and evacuated up to 80 houses as they deal with a bomb threat.
A suspicious car, believed to have been parked on the street for a week, is responsible for the closure of Princess Street East and the evacuation of some residents in Brady Road near Seaside Park. It is understood the army bomb disposal squad has been called.
Police say the vehicle is being treated as hazardous and will need to be examined and cleared before those affected can return to their homes. This is likely to take up to two hours, say police.
