Part of a south Auckland town centre was cordoned off today after a bomb threat was received, police said.
The threat was received just before noon, and part of the Mangere Town Square was closed off, Inspector Scott Webb, from the police northern communications centre said.
The area, which is being checked by bomb search dogs, included a McDonald's fast food outlet and an ASB branch.
Mr Webb declined to say how the threat had been conveyed.
"It was a little unspecific, really," he said. "But there are bomb dogs going through each place."
