A busy day at the Napier Courthouse has been suspended for at least three hours today after a late-morning bomb threat.
Two jury trials and Napier's weekly Criminal List were in progress when courts were adjourned and building on Hastings street and neigbouring the Napier City Council building was cleared just before 11am.
Police were soon afterwards asking people to keep keep at a distance of at least 50 metres from the Courthouse, and court staff said all court sittings were adjourned until at least 2.15pm.
The emergency was over by 11.50am.
Police media staff said about midday the courthouse was evacuated for the safety of everyone involved due to a non-specific threat received around 10:30am.
